The technology behind Moxi laser

The Moxi treatment is the newest fractioned wavelength  device made with everyone in mind. Moxi laser is from the creators of Sciton, the company known for their revolutionary Halo™ and BBL™ laser treatment devices.

Moxi uses fractionated laser energy to make micro-coagulation zones. The body repairs these zones and replaces damaged cells with new ones! This provides tonal and textural improvement in the skin. This is a non-ablative laser, so the treatment is gentle with minimal recovery downtime.

Who is an ideal candidate for Moxi laser?

The Moxi laser was designed with everyone in mind, and it’s an ideal skin laser treatment for younger patients new to skin aesthetics. You don’t need to have a specific skin type for Moxi laser to work well for you. Moxi laser is a fantastic laser treatment for those new to skin aesthetics who might want to try out a treatment with very little downtime.

Because this gentle laser treatment targets so many concerns, you will reap the benefits! If you’re looking to prevent signs of aging, or just rejuvenate your current skin, Moxi laser is a great treatment for you no matter your age or skin type.

How the Moxi laser works

Before the procedure

Your AesthetiCare provider will cleanse your skin thoroughly and take VISIA pictures in order to identify treatment areas. VISIA photos are high-resolution photos from multiple angles of the face. It helps spot concerns that are not as visible to the naked eye such as hyper-pigmented spots, UV invisible spots, and more.

There are multiple features with VISIA that help technicians look at certain skin concerns from different views. This is the best way to examine your skin, and it also helps review before and after results with the same position, lighting, and other parameters, so you can fully see the difference!

Skin preparation

To help make you as comfortable as possible, your technician will apply a topical numbing cream to the skin an hour before the treatment. After the hour is over, the aesthetician removes the numbing cream before starting the Moxi laser procedure.

Determine treatment settings

Based on your VISIA photos, your aesthetician will design your treatment on the Moxi machine to create the best results for you. There are different settings, and depending on your skin concerns they may be higher or lower.

Moxi laser aftercare

There is little to no downtime for recovery after this treatment. It’s referred to as a “lunchtime procedure” because many patients come in on their break for it!

Moxi laser aftercare regimen recommends using a moisturizing physical sunscreen on the treatment area and to stay out of the sun. You can wear makeup 24 hours after treatment.

It’s always best to be extra gentle on your skin for a few days after a laser treatment. Wearing sunscreen, a hat, and staying out of the sun as best you can is the best way to have a great recovery period.

Moxi laser healing process and results

Depending on your individual goals, results will vary. There is a potential for swelling directly after treatment. The day of your treatment your skin may be pink or red, and you may see tiny dots called “mendz” from the laser. The healing process takes 3 to 4 days.

Throughout this time the mendz will darken, feel textured, and eventually slough off. It will reveal healthy skin from underneath! Most patients experience improvement in skin tone, texture, reduced appearance of fine lines and pores, and increased reflectivity and glow.

Is the Moxi laser painful?

Differing levels of treatment may affect pain, but most patients find the sensation tolerable. The numbing cream prior to the procedure helps to minimize discomfort, and your technician may also use a cooling air to keep you comfortable during. This is one of the most gentle, low-pain laser treatments out there.

How many Moxi treatments do you need?

The number of Moxi treatments you need all depends on your unique skin goals and the level of concerns to be treated. If you complete a Moxi laser for preventative measures, you will not need a lot of treatments. However, you may need multiple Moxi treatments if you have concerns like extensive sun damage, skin texture, or uneven skin tone.

Complete a consultation with an AesthetiCare professional to discuss all of your concerns and get an idea of what your treatment plan would look like. We always customize plans to yield the best results for each patient!
