Summer bodies are created in the winter, which is why now is the best time to focus on CoolSculpting Elite, which targets and eliminates unwanted body fat.

Curious to learn more about how CoolSculpting works, what areas of the body CoolSculpting can treat and more? Read on!

What Is Body Contouring?

Before understanding the solution, we must first understand the problem.

Many people undergo body-sculpting treatments because they’re trying to achieve a certain shape when diet and exercise just aren’t enough. This is quite common for people once babies are born or that beer belly comes in, but mostly, it boils down to age: Often our bodies simply lose the resilience they once had.

Body contouring (also known as body sculpting) is the process by which medical professionals reshape a certain area of the body. This is done in a variety of ways with a number of different body-sculpting treatments and procedures, like tightening skin or eliminating unwanted fat.

For example, CoolSculpting reshapes problem areas on the body by eliminating unwanted fat. We will get to how that process is done in just a minute!

An important factoid to keep in mind: Body contouring is not a weight loss solution. Following your body-sculpting treatment, you may find yourself a few pounds lighter, but chalk that up to a happy coincidence. Its primary purpose is only to shape the body.

Body contouring offers a whole heap of confidence-inspiring advantages such as:

  • A youthful appearance
  • Thinner appearance
  • Stronger definition
  • Smoother skin

The exciting part of our aesthetics world is that there are many ways in which body contouring can be performed now – nonsurgically! One is a nonsurgical solution called cryolipolysis – the process of using controlled cold temperatures to freeze, and thereby destroy, fat cells.

Can you guess what this treatment is called?

*HINT: It’s a pretty cool name!

CoolSculpting: Description & General Overview

“If you can squeeze it, we can freeze it!”

This has become AesthetiCare’s motto for the latest and greatest fat-destroying treatment known as CoolSculpting Elite!

CoolSculpting is the process of eliminating that unwanted fat, free of downtime. Noninvasive and FDA-cleared, this amazing body-sculpting treatment freezes areas of fat in a controlled setting.

First, did you know that there are two types of fat in your body?

  • Subcutaneous fat. This type of fat makes up most of the total fat in your body. It’s found just beneath the skin, and you typically notice it around your arms, waist and legs.
  • Visceral fat. This type of fat is critical to your health. It surrounds your essential organs, including your stomach, liver and intestines. However, high levels of this type of fat can raise blood pressure, among other possible and more serious health complications.

The type of fat that is targeted by cryolipolysis during the treatment of CoolSculpting is subcutaneous fat.

AesthetiCare typically recommends two treatments for optimal results, but with each treatment, most clients report seeing a reduction of fat by 20-30%. However, some clients experience excellent results with just one treatment, rather than a series. This will be discussed during your consultation.

But that’s not even the most noteworthy benefit of CoolSculpting! Once you’ve completed your CoolSculpting treatment and your existing fat cells die off, they’re gone for good. This means fewer fat cells forever in areas that you’ve treated with CoolSculpting.

CoolSculpting is the perfect option for clients who want a safe and effective procedure without going through the stress of complicated surgeries.

At AesthetiCare, CoolSculpting is a relaxing experience. During the procedure, you can feel free to read a book, scroll your phone, watch TV, catch up on work or – for those with toddlers at home – even take a nap!

None of that would be possible with other fat-reduction treatments/procedures on the market.

How Does CoolSculpting Work?

AesthetiCare is the only medical spa in the Kansas City area that utilizes the integrative combination of CoolSculpting and ZWave. But why is that important?

This revolutionary cosmetic combo delivers faster CoolSculpting results with more accuracy than traditional CoolSculpting treatments that don’t utilize ZWave to eliminate areas of unwanted fat.

What causes unwanted fat in the first place?

Unwanted fat can stem from a variety of causes, but the most common are diet, lack of exercise, genetics and lifestyle. Over time, stubborn belly fat can be difficult to get rid of – regardless of intensive workout plans or dieting, which is why a lot of people turn to CoolSculpting.

For visual learners, you can enjoy our quick CoolSculpting Elite Treatment Demo below, but here’s the full CoolSculpting Elite process from start to finish:

  1. The first step with any treatment is to meet for a consultation wherein a personalized plan will be tailored to fit your needs based on your desired results. At your CoolSculpting consultation, your weight and body will be measured and analyzed so that your custom treatment plan can be designed for you. For quick and accurate body composition results, AesthetiCare uses advanced BIA technology provided by the incredible InBody machine to:-Non-invasively perform body composition tests in 60 seconds or less
-Measure water, fat and muscle levels with the accuracy of gold standard methods
-Track your progress with an outlined printout
  2. Next, your CoolSculpting specialist will map the target area on your body to determine the best CoolSculpting instrument and treatment plan for you.
  3. Prior to the procedure, a thin layer of gel will be applied to the targeted area for patient comfort and protection. Next, a CoolSculpting applicator will be placed on the treatment area to begin the fat-destroying process.
  4. The treatment consists of using the CoolSculpting instrument to gently suction areas of fat into the handpiece. Cooling panels are placed on the targeted area to isolate the unwanted fat.
  5. Acoustic waves are then used to break up the frozen fat via integrative ZWave technology, producing faster CoolSculpting results at no additional cost to you.
  6. Lastly, your specialist will schedule a follow-up session to take photos so that we can share with you your before/after results.

What All Does CoolSculpting Treat?

The great thing about CoolSculpting is that it’s a body-sculpting treatment, meaning there are many areas on your body (some that maybe you didn’t even think of!) that you can treat.

You can slim those love handles (that you don’t love), shed muffin tops and so much more.

Below is a full list of certain conditions or areas of the body that can be treated with CoolSculpting:

Unwanted body fat

  • Bra fat
  • Belly fat
  • Inner and outer thighs
  • Arm fat
  • Double chin
  • Flanks, also known as love handles or muffin top
  • Abdomen
  • Excess fat underneath the chin, also known as submental fullness or a double chin
  • Back fat
  • Fat underneath the buttocks, also called the “banana roll”

Our motto is “If you can squeeze it — we can freeze it!”

CoolSculpting targets the fat cells in each of these areas by crystalizing them through the process of cryolipolysis that we discussed earlier.

When your fat cells freeze in such a way, they cannot survive. By allowing these pesky fat cells to die, your body begins to naturally process these fat cells, preventing them from altering the appearance of your love handles or double chin or whatever your problem area may be that was treated with CoolSculpting!

AesthetiCare is the only medical spa in the Kansas City area that utilizes the integrative combination of CoolSculpting and ZWave at no additional cost to you! ZWave is an acoustic technology designed to allow CoolSculpting to work more quickly with fewer treatments and less pain. Due to this harmonious combination, you get your results faster and with more accuracy than treatments without the ZWave.

CoolSculpting Risks & Possible Side Effects

CoolSculpting is a very safe procedure that poses little risk. Side effects are mild, but you may experience some pain and possible decreased sensation in the treated area. Other side effects reported include nausea, dizziness, rash or swelling, but these resolve on their own rather quickly.

According to Healthline.com, a 2015 study reviewed the results of people who collectively completed 554 cryolipolysis procedures over one year. The review found that any post-treatment pain usually lasted three to 11 days and went away independently.

CoolSculpting is typically a safe and effective procedure for everyone, but there is one known side effect and it’s very rare – doxical adipose hyperplasia (or PAH).

People who experience this adverse effect of cryolipolysis are classified as “non-responders.” This condition is also more prevalent in males than females, though the reason remains unclear.

So, what causes PAH?

PAH occurs when, during the CoolSculpting procedure, an increase of fat cells is triggered in the target area, rather than a decrease. Several months following your CoolSculpting procedure, PAH causes new tissue growth in the area that was treated with CoolSculpting.

This becomes problematic because the tissue that grows is traditionally harder than normal fat with a rubbery texture. In most cases, liposuction can reverse the effects of PAH. However, in some cases, this new fat growth cannot be removed, leaving the patient to ponder between surgical removal or allowing the fat to perpetually remain.

Key Takeaways:

  • To date, more than 11 million CoolSculpting treatments have been performed worldwide.
  • The odds of PAH occurring with Coolsculpting is 1 in 3000, with the vast majority being easily fixed with liposuction.
  • Designed to give CoolSculpting patients peace of mind, Allergan Aesthetics now offers financial assistance of up to $7,500* to any patient with a confirmed case of PH that they may use toward their corrective procedure.

Jay Burns, a leading member of both AesthetiCare and CoolSculpting’s medical advisory board, has treated a small handful of PAH cases – all with great results.

CoolSculpting is a safe and effective procedure for most people. However, if you have the following conditions, you should consult with a doctor before engaging in any CoolSculpting procedure:
