Say Goodbye to Cellulite With Sculptra
What Is Cellulite?
Cellulite occurs when fatty tissues expand through the fibrous bands that connect skin to muscle. The bands stretch the skin, creating dimpled texture. Nearly 80% of women and some men have cellulite, so cellulite is normal! But that doesn’t mean we have to love it.
Cellulite is caused by genetics and environmental factors such as weight loss and our aging bodies. It mostly appears on the thighs, legs and buttocks. While there is no permanent solution for cellulite, Sculptra is an excellent long-term alternative to invasive treatments like a Brazilian butt lift or liposuction.
What Is Sculptra? How Does It Work To Treat Cellulite?
Sculptra is a well-known type of dermal filler for the skin. The procedure uses an FDA-approved acid to fill dimples or wrinkles. The filler works with poly-L-lactic acid, which stimulates the skin’s structure to produce more collagen, resulting in reduced dimples in the skin. The results can last up to two years, and your skin will appear plump and fuller for longer than it will after treatment with other dermal fillers.
While Sculptra is not a forever cure for cellulite, it is a long-term solution for the appearance of cellulite dimples. The added volume to the skin from Sculptra enhances the contour of the skin and allows the skin to tighten and look plump and full.
Benefits of Sculptra To Treat Cellulite
Sculptra is injected directly into the dimpled texture of the skin using poly-l-lactic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that muscles make during exercise and other activities. Because it already exists in the body, it’s absorbed easily and quickly. The long-lasting filler helps hold the appearance of fuller, plumper skin for years.
What Side Effects Should I Expect Following a Sculptra Treatment?
You will notice immediate results after you receive the Sculptra treatment, but there may be slight swelling that will subside within a couple of days.
Other side effects include slight bruising, itching and mild pain as well as bumps under the skin at the injection site. Generally, these symptoms subside within a couple of days.
Am I a Good Candidate for Sculptra?
Medical decisions are made on a case-by-case basis, and you’ll find that your AesthetiCare provider will tailor any treatment to your specific body and personal goals.
If you’ve experienced weight loss and loss of volume in some areas, Sculptra injections may be just what you need to feel confident and rejuvenated. With new techniques available, Sculptra has become even more versatile, offering a solution not just for cellulite reduction, but also for firming sagging skin on arms and knees, while adding volume to the neck and décolletage area. Understand that Sculptra requires time before results are evident, but patients who are willing to wait are generally very happy with the results. Over time, you’ll notice a significant improvement in volume and contour, which will enhance your appearance in a non-invasive way.
We want to make sure that Sculptra is safe for you. Therefore, it’s important to note that it may not be suitable for everyone. It is not recommended if you have autoimmune issues, are pregnant, breastfeeding, or are under 18. We also advise you to hold off if you’re experiencing any skin outbreaks or redness. If you’re prone to keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring, it’s best to avoid Sculptra. When you come in for a complimentary consultation with a board-certified clinician at AethetiCare, please let us know about any use of blood thinners or other medications. Your safety and comfort are our top priority, and we want to ensure that you receive the best possible care.
How Many Treatments Are Typically Needed?
Sculptra is a long-term solution for cellulite, with results lasting 2 to 5 years. For optimal results, two to three treatments, approximately six weeks apart, are recommended to get the full cellulite-reducing benefits.
What Is the Recovery Time?
Sculptra treatments are noninvasive, and you will be able to resume normal activities soon after the procedure. A topical anesthetic will be applied to numb the area during injection. While it’s best to avoid strenuous activities for a few days after the procedure, there is virtually no downtime after the filler is placed.
Because this treatment works with your body to generate more collagen, results take about six weeks to take full effect. Within six weeks after treatment, your body will stimulate fresh collagen production and your skin will look plump, reducing the appearance of cellulite in the skin.
