Blog Laser skin surfacing
December 9th 2020
As we age, our dermal layer thins and the production of collagen molecules slows down dramatically, leading to a deflationary effect on the surface of our skin causing us to get lines, wrinkles and sagging skin. Our Plasma PenTM hand-piece converts electrical energy into an electrostatic energy to create artificial nitrogen plasma. The nitrogen plasma energy we create transfers rapidly to the skins epidermal layer, while simultaneously heating & disrupting the deeper dermal structure via thermal conduction. This in-turn causes the skin to regenerate new cells, removing loose/crepey/saggy skin, replacing it with firmer & softer skin. Reducing the appearance of aged skin.
Clients can resume their normal activities immediately after each session but keep in mind the ‘social downtime’ as you will experience visual changes on the treated area during your short-term healing process (which lasts 3 to 7 days in normal circumstances). Swelling for one to five days after the cosmetic treatment is normal and to be expected.
Patients can experience results as quickly as a couple weeks, and results will continue to improve over the next 6 months.
Patients that combine treatments see better, faster results than doing one treatment alone. Talk to one of our professional team members today about potential cost savings when you book multiple treatments together at our Leawood or Liberty offices!
How Does the Plasma Pen Work?
The plasma energy we create transfers rapidly to the skins epidermal layer. Simultaneously, it heats and disrupts the deeper dermal structure via thermal conduction. This creates a dual zone of microtrauma comprising of superficial micro-damage to the epidermis and inner thermal modification within the dermis – especially to the fibroblasts (hence the term “fibroblasting”) The immediate contraction of the epidermal tissue and resurfacing helps creates immediate lift & dramatic skin tightening.
At either our Leawood or Liberty office, we decide a treatment protocol based on the client's specific skin and desired results. Discuss expected outcome, downtime and the dos and don'ts to ensure the most successful results.
One of our trained providers cleans the skin and applies a numbing cream to the treatment area for approximately 45 minutes for patient comfort.
Our provider then uses the Plasma Pen hand-piece to creates tiny plasma "dots" rapidly to the skins epidermal layer, whilst simultaneously heating & disrupting the deeper dermal structure via thermal conduction. This controlled trauma to the skin causes an immediate contraction of the epidermal tissue to create an immediate lift & dramatic tightening of the skin.
Once the treatment is done, we apply a light dressing (such as Aquaphor) to keep the skin moist. This will be used for 2 to 7 days morning and night while avoiding any other topical products. Post-care instructions will be given and thoroughly explained. It is normal for the area to feel tight, dry and itchy during healing. The "dots" created by the treatment will shed by day 3-7, creating new healthy skin.
Knockoff Plasma Pen treatments have been replicated and can be unsafe, so it is important to be wary of authenticity. AesthetiCare carries the trademarked advanced Plasma Pen system and our staff has had multiple hands-on onsite trainings.
The Plasma Pen promotes healthier-looking skin, with the creation of lifting and tightening of the skin. The dermis becomes stronger and more flexible which underpins the partial-to-complete elimination of medium depth wrinkles & a marked improvement/softening of deep wrinkles.
Plasma Pen gives results with similar effects as surgery without the invasive elements. Plasma affords significant cost savings compared to surgical alternatives along with the low-risk and reduced downtime.
