Laser hair removal is a safe, effective process of permanently reducing or eliminating unwanted hair on almost any part of the body except near the eyes. AesthetiCare owns four FDA-approved lasers for hair removal in Kansas City & Liberty alone.
AesthetiCare owns 4 FDA-cleared laser hair removal systems near you in Overland Park/Leawood and North Kansas City in Liberty. We will choose the most effective device and treatment plan for your particular hair color and skin type. The laser deposits heat into the bulge of the hair, which destroys the base of the follicle permanently. A series of treatments are required to account for the fact that hair can only be destroyed in the active growth stage.
On average, 6 to 12 laser hair removal treatments at our Leawood or Liberty office provides the maximum results.
While most clients experience maximum results after 4 to 8 treatments, we encourage our clients to have the number of laser hair removal treatments that achieve their desired results.
How much hair you have depends on how many hairs are in their active growth cycle and how long that cycle lasts. Hair revolves through three phases of growth: anagen, catagen, and telogen. Hairs in the anagen phase can be treated with laser hair removal devices.
Many people don’t realize that the hair growth cycle plays a huge role in laser hair removal treatments. In addition, factors such as age, ethnicity, medications, and more can influence how fast your hair moves through the three phases. Since the cycle varies from person to person, our specialists will work with you to create a customized laser hair removal treatment plan.
Also known as the “active growing” phase, during this phase the hair bulb is still intact. Your hair also grows in multiple directions—upward and downward. Since the bulb is closest to the surface of your skin at this time, it contains an abundance of melanin. As a result, laser hair removal can more effectively target hair follicles in the anagen phase.
The catagen phase is a brief rest period that happens between anagen and telogen. At this point, the lower part of the hair stops growing but hasn’t shed. The body also absorbs the lower third of the hair follicle.
Lastly, the telogen phase marks the resting period when the hair bulb disappears, which creates “club hair.” Club hair then either falls out or hair entering the anagen phase pushes it out.
Since not all follicles are in the same phase at once, it is very important that you get multiple laser hair removal treatments to target each follicle during the anagen phase.
Laser hair removal uses light to target the melanin that lies in the hair follicle’s growth centers. From there, the light converts to heat to destroy the follicle at the source. Without its growth center, hair follicles can no longer grow in the treatment area(s).
We always recommend getting multiple laser hair removal treatments simply because the treatment targets the active phase of the hair growth cycle. When hair is in the resting phase (telogen), it can’t properly absorb light or generate enough heat to cause damage to the growth center.
As long as you follow your customized laser hair removal plan, you’ll gain long-lasting results. Believe it or not, laser hair removal is effective in eliminating 80 to 90% of hair within the treated areas. Even if you notice hair growing back, it is typically finer and less noticeable than it was before. For most people, that means there is no longer a need for daily shaving or even monthly waxing to achieve the ultimate silky smooth look.
Laser hair removal is safe for most skin tones and hair textures (even darker skin). Since AesthetiCare is equipped with four different lasers, we can ensure that each client receives personalized care. Because our laser hair removal treatments are customized to each person, the treatment can effectively remove hair on all body parts, including the:
01
All clients first receive an in-depth consultation with our laser specialists for laser hair removal at AesthetiCare Leawood or Liberty. We will evaluate your skin type and unwanted hair to determine the best hair removal plan for you.
02
On the day of your appointment at our North KC or Leawood office, the area(s) to be treated with laser hair removal are cleansed and analyzed. The appropriate laser is selected. You will be given protective eyewear and asked to lie back comfortably.
03
The proper laser hair removal settings are selected and the laser's handpiece is applied to the desired treatment area. Most clients equate the sensation to a small rubber band snap as the laser targets and destroys the pigment in each treatable hair follicle.
04
There may be minor redness or swelling around the follicle. We may provide you with ice packs to ensure this dissipates quickly and no post care is required. You may leave our office and immediately return to your daily activities following laser hair removal in Overland Park or Liberty.
05
The hair in the active growth, or anagen, phase will be destroyed in your laser hair removal session. Since hair moves through different growth phases, multiple treatment sessions are required to adequately treat an entire area. After a full series of laser hair removal in Overland Park and Liberty, clients report significant hair reduction.
Your AesthetiCare laser hair removal specialist will provide you with detailed preparation instructions prior to your first appointment at our Leawood or Liberty office. You will be advised to avoid all hair removal methods other than shaving (e.g. tweezing, waxing) for at least two weeks prior to your first session. You should also avoid UV exposure and all tanning methods (including self-tanner) for at least a month to ensure the laser targets only the pigment in the hair follicles.
Negative side effects from laser hair removal are rare and usually occur at the hands of inexperienced providers. If not performed properly, hyperpigmentation, blisters, or even burns may happen.
Lucky for you, AesthetiCare's team of laser specialists are among the most highly trained in the nation, and each are proficient in offering laser hair removal in Overland Park with our range of state-of-the-art devices.
Healthy adults, men and women alike, with unwanted hair are the best candidates for laser hair removal in Overland Park or Liberty at AesthetiCare. Most of our ladies come to us to remove hair in the bikini area, underarms, and legs while guys are interested in laser hair removal on their backs or necks.
It is important to note that laser hair removal is most effective on dark hair colors, as the laser targets pigment in hair follicles. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, you should consider waiting to receive laser hair removal treatments. We also do not recommend using our lasers over a tattoo, as the laser may disrupt or fade the colors.
AesthetiCare proudly owns and operates the latest and greatest laser hair removal devices available. Our powerful lasers are FDA-cleared and are able to successfully treat all skin and hair types. Your best match is determined during your initial consultation with our specialists.
Professional laser hair removal performed by trained providers is not considered painful. Most patients report feeling a rubber band snap sensation for a millisecond that quickly dissipates. This may be followed by a sunburn feeling that doesn't last longer than it'll take you to leave our office.
Since no two patients, nor their treatments, are exactly alike, laser hair removal pricing varies depending on several factors. For example, the number of sessions required and the size of the treatment area(s) will affect your laser hair removal price. Your AesthetiCare specialist will provide you with all necessary pricing information prior to deciding to undergo a series of treatments.
With laser hair removal, it's important for the laser to have follicles to target. This means that you should avoid waxing, tweezing, epilation, or any other hair removal method that pulls hair from the root and disrupts the grow cycle. It's recommended to stop these forms of hair removal at least two weeks before your first laser hair removal session.
Nope! Again, you risk removing pigment from hair follicles that otherwise could have been destroyed. You may shave any hair that remains between sessions as needed, however.
In our experience, laser hair removal at our Leawood or Liberty office is a much quicker, more comfortable method of hair removal. Electrolysis, while also effective, is an invasive, sometimes painful process which involves needles and electrical charges to disrupt the hair growth cycle and destroy hair follicles.
Laser hair removal, on the other hand, can target multiple hairs at one time, and requires on average six treatment sessions rather than years of treatments that may be necessary with electrolysis.

Before you come to our Leawood or Liberty clinic, we want you to feel comfortable about your decision to get laser hair removal. Because laser hair removal is continuing to grow in popularity, there are a lot of myths and misconceptions about the treatment.
However, our hair removal specialists at AesthetiCare pride ourselves on educating each client before the procedure begins. That means taking time to debunk false information and any myths swarming around.
Laser hair removal does not cause radiation exposure. In fact, with our delicate care and expertise, we ensure the safety of all of our clients. Some people believe that radiation from professional laser hair removal lasers could cause cancer, and that simply isn’t true. The laser hair removal device we use for clients across North Kansas City and Overland Park are specifically designed to penetrate the skin, and while there is some radiation, it is not enough to harm the skin or body.
If you go to an under-qualified medspa in Kansas City, then you might have issues with discoloration, hyperpigmentation, and patchiness. Although having a strong contrast between the color of your hair and skin makes laser hair removal easier, it does not mean darker skin tones can’t benefit from permanent hair reduction. For this reason, our specialists choose between our four lasers and adjust settings to bring the best results to all clients, regardless of skin tone.
Of course not all laser hair removal technicians are the same! That’s why two people getting the same treatment could have two very different results. The expertise of the provider is what truly makes the difference. Some technicians have had very little training or aren’t up-to-date on new laser hair removal techniques. However, our experienced technicians at Aesthetics make a huge impact on comfort levels, length of treatment, and achieving your ideal results within 4 to 8 treatments.
Absolutely not! We would never provide a treatment that could affect a woman’s fertility. The truth is, there is no scientific evidence that proves laser hair removal can cause infertility. Laser energy during the treatment does penetrate the skin, but not at a level deep enough to reach internal reproductive organs. In fact, laser hair removal is FDA approved, and can even be used on sensitive areas such as the bikini line!
There are a variety of devices that offer the ability to try laser hair removal at home. First, these lasers are not as powerful as professional lasers, meaning you would have spent money on a device that may not even work.
Second, lasers in all forms should be left for the professionals. Professionals have gone through the proper training to bring you a safe, yet effective treatment. No one without credentials and experience should tamper with any kind of laser, no matter how “safe” the manufacturer claims it to be. Doing laser hair removal at home could lead to:
For prickle-free skin you’d be proud to show off, come to our Leawood office for the best laser hair removal treatments in the North Kansas City and Johnson County area. We work hard to customize each treatment, ensuring that the device doesn’t harm your skin.
