Hormone Therapy in Kansas City for Women and Men: What You Need to Know

We all know that getting older comes with a lot of changes in our bodies. Aging gracefully is the goal for many of our clients (or pressing pause on the process if possible!). We’re familiar with a lot of the outward appearance signs of aging: graying hair, development of fine lines and wrinkles, skin laxity, etc.

AesthetiCare already offers a wealth of treatments and services for these concerns—excluding hair dye, we love a silver fox But we wanted to provide treatments that optimize how you feel on the inside as you age. That is why we are introducing hormone therapy in Kansas City as a part of our lineup of Wellness Services at AesthetiCare.

So let’s discuss AesthetiCare’s hormone therapy in Kansas City, symptoms of low hormone levels, frequently asked questions and more.

Symptoms of low hormone levels

Hormone therapy is a fantastic way to better optimize your health and well being as you age.

When we get older, our body’s production of proteins, cells, and more slows down, creating the effects of aging. This is true with collagen and elastin, the proteins responsible for the structure and bounce of your skin, and it’s also true for the hormones your body produces, like testosterone and estrogen.

When your body’s hormone levels are out of balance, it can show up as a wide variety of symptoms that vary between men and women.

Low estrogen levels in women

Low estrogen levels in women are common, and they typically affect women approaching menopause, though low estrogen can happen to women at any age.

Some common symptoms of low estrogen are:

  • Painful sex or vaginal dryness
  • Increased UTI infections
  • Mood swings
  • Irregular or missed periods
  • Hot flashes
  • Tenderness of breasts
  • Low mood
  • Brain fog
  • Fatigue

Low testosterone in men

Low testosterone is nothing to be ashamed of, and in fact it’s incredibly common. Low testosterone is prevalent in almost 40% of men 45 or older.

For men, low testosterone can look like:

  • Reduced sex drive
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Low mood
  • Brain fog
  • Fatigue
  • Loss of muscle mass
  • Irritability
  • Gynecomastia
  • Decrease in body hair
  • Increase in body fat

There are symptoms that overlap and are experienced by both men and women with low hormone levels, including fatigue, brain fog, mood swings, increased risk of bone fracture, poor sleep, and more.

Since these symptoms are so varied, it’s best to consult with a medical professional to get a diagnosis for hormone imbalance and see where your levels are at.

How hormone therapy in Kansas City can help

Hormones are incredibly important to your body because they regulate so many functions, like sleep, metabolism, blood pressure, blood sugar, and libido. Hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, thyroid, and cortisol are chemical messengers; they tell your cells what to do. When your hormones are out of balance, your cells are getting the wrong messages. As you age, your body’s hormone production decreases, which can lead to an imbalance in how you feel.

To help combat this natural decrease, we can use bioidentical hormone therapy pellets at AesthetiCare. These pells contain hormones that are structurally identical to the hormones naturally produced by your body and are derived from soy and yams. The pellet is a little bit larger than a grain of rice and is implanted in the upper/outer hip area to slowly release over a period of 3 to 6 months.

We also have options for hormone therapy injectables and creams. Below are ways that AesthetiCare’s hormone therapy in Kansas City can help you feel as good as you look ❣️

Optimize your health and well being

You don’t have to live with a myriad of symptoms as your baseline for functioning. Things like poor sleep, low libido, and mood swings can really impact your well being in the long run, and hormone therapy can address these issues and more to get you functioning on a level where you feel great. After all, you deserve to feel your best at any age!

Personalized treatment

We never create a one-size-fits-all hormone therapy treatment plan. Everyone’s body and hormone levels are unique, and your therapy should be unique too! Whether a pellet, injectable, or cream is right for you, our wellness nurse practitioner will recommend the treatment option that best fits your needs.

No downtime

Hormone therapy is not a huge time investment. We understand that it’s hard to make time for yourself between work, family, and everything in between. There is no downtime needed for hormone therapy treatment, and in fact, the treatment is super quick once you get started on a series. You can get right back to your routine without skipping a beat

Highly trained staff

AesthetiCare’s nurse practitioner, Amanda Whitson, has been practicing functional medicine including bioidentical hormone therapy and regenerative therapies for years. She has completed an advanced fellowship in anti-aging, functional, and regenerative medicine.

The hormone therapy treatment process

  1. Consultation With Our Nurse Practitioner

To find out if you’re a good candidate for hormone therapy (HRT), you’ll complete a consultation with our nurse practitioner. We will go over your medical history and discuss the symptoms you’re experiencing.

From there, we will discuss possible hormone therapy options for you. Before we can ensure that HRT is right for you and create a treatment plan, we will request lab work. This is to identify your baseline hormone levels, check for nutrient deficiencies and thyroid levels.

  1. Lab Work and Follow Up

We will review the labs to see how your hormone levels in order to create a personalized treatment plan.

Our bioidentical hormone therapy uses natural body hormones to help men and women with hormone imbalance. The term “bio-identical” means that the hormone is an exact match to the hormone that your body makes, but these hormones are made from soy and yam.

  1. Check In

To see how well the HRT is working for you, we will have you do another set of lab work 4 to 6 weeks after the pellet is placed. We’ll discuss how you’re feeling with the therapy either in-person or over the phone. Then, we make decisions with you on how to proceed with your hormone therapy.

  1. Treatment Goals and Results

The ultimate goal of HRT is to get you to a balanced point with a dosage that works best for you! This is to ensure you don’t need to get a ton of lab work, and of course to make sure you’re feeling better We can always adjust as needed, and you’ll find improvement in your symptoms and feel more like yourself again.
