Everything You Should Know About RF Microneedling
Alright ladies and gents, it’s time to take basic microneedling to the next level. INTRAcel combines the microneedling with the power of radio frequency energy for glowing, youthful, and overall ah-mazing skin!
As local Kansas City experts in the skincare industry, our specialists at AesthetiCare absolutely love INTRAcel, not only because it does wonders for the skin, but because it also works for all skin types (even that summer tan you’ve been working on!).
If you’re looking to smooth your complexion, shrink your pores, and reverse visible signs of aging, then RF microneedling could be the right treatment for you! Just keep reading to learn more about INTRAcel and how it can give you the skin of your dreams.
What is RF microneedling?
INTRAcel’s RF microneedling is basically the upgraded version of traditional microneedling. With a traditional treatment, a handheld piece runs along your skin to create tiny micro-wounds. Those micro-wounds jumpstart the body’s natural healing process, leading to a boost in collagen production. If you don’t know what that means, collagen is your best friend when it comes to tightening your skin and reducing wrinkles.
Now, here’s where things get a little more interesting. Radiofrequency (RF) energy enhances the already great benefits of traditional microneedling. How? We’ll explain.
RF energy increases the temperature of skin tissue, which causes thermal damage (it sounds worse than what it is, trust us). Thermal damage then stimulates something called neocollagenesis—in other words, the collagen-making process.
During the 60-minute treatment, RF energy radiates from the tips of the needles for the ultimate skin rejuvenation treatment. Plus, with little to no downtime, you may start noticing results within 24 to 48 hours!
But here’s the kicker. For an INTRAcel treatment to be effective, you must go to a specialist who truly understands the ins and outs of skin. That way, he or she can cater the treatment to your needs to reverse damage while keeping the surrounding tissue unharmed.
For example, it’s key to understand the aging process. There are two main types of aging:
- Intrinsic aging: The slow, natural aging that occurs overtime (unfortunately, it’s unavoidable).
- Extensive aging: Aging that stems from outside forces like staying out in the sun without SPF.
Regardless, the main characteristic of aging skin is the loss of skin elasticity and wrinkles, most of which stem from a decrease in collagen and elastin fibers. An experienced specialist will be able to analyze your skin and how it’s aging to ensure you get the best results. If you’re in the Kansas City area, our team at AesthetiCare have all the knowledge needed to provide the best RF microneedling procedures in the area.
If done by a well-trained professional, INTRAcel can treat a variety of conditions such as:
- Skin laxity
- Wrinkles & fine lines
- Acne scars
- Enlarged pores
- Stretch marks
Is RF microneedling right for me?
That depends. Are you tired of dealing with an uneven complexion, textured skin, wrinkles, and acne scars? If your answer is yes, then RF microneedling could definitely be right for you. As with any treatment, you’ll want to go in for a consultation to ensure INTRAcel is the best fit, but you’d be surprised at just how many people it can benefit!
While all skin tones and types often do well with INTRAcel, keep in mind that results may not be instantaneous. Most people require a series of treatments to truly get glowing, radiant skin.
We would like to add that people who are suffering from active breakouts (like acne or eczema) should wait until they clear away before starting treatments. AesthetiCare also provides advanced acne therapy to help you out! You should also wait if you have:
- Open wounds
- Psoriasis
- Undergone recent radiation therapy
We also don’t recommend microneedling for pregnant women since a topical lidocaine anesthetic is used on the skin..
Does at-home microneedling work?
Well, if you’re going to compare it to a professional RF microneedling treatment, honestly… there is no comparison. Many people opt for cheaper alternatives but expect the same results as a professional treatment. However, you may notice that rollers can enhance topical creams and treatments, but beyond that, they won’t do much else.
While at-home roller devices may help brighten your skin, they can also do more harm than good. One reason is that the needles on a roller penetrate the skin at an angle, which can actually cause tearing and damage if you’re not careful.
But with INTRAcel, the needles are delicately placed to penetrate the skin at the optimal depth. Along with RF energy, this allows the treatment to evenly disperse throughout the treatment area(s). Plus, INTRAcel is a lot more aggressive (in a good way), meaning it is powerful enough to show real results.
Long story short, if you want the best of the best, don’t try this at home.
What to expect from a professional RF microneedling procedure
If you’re in the Kansas City area, say goodbye to disappointing at-home treatments and hello to the clear skin you deserve. At AesthetiCare, we’ll make sure you get the best service and treatment so you walk away feeling more refreshed.
Step 1: Consultation
Before you do anything, you’ll come to our office for a free consultation. During that time, you’ll sit down with us to discuss your skincare needs and goals. From there, we can decide if RF microneedling is right for you. We can even create a treatment plan that may include other complimenting treatment options for the best results!
Step 2: Prep the skin
When you come in for your appointment, we’ll start by prepping your skin for the treatment. To minimize discomfort, we always apply a topical numbing cream about 45 minutes to an hour before we come in with the INTRAcel device. After the cream sets in, we’ll wash it off and thoroughly cleanse the treatment area(s).
Step 3: Treatment
Here’s where the fun begins. Based on your unique needs (including your age and skin quality), we’ll determine the best setting that’ll give you the results you’re looking for. We’ll run the handheld device over the treatment area(s) multiple times until we’ve reached the desired effect.
Step 4: Post treatment
After it’s all said and done, you may experience some pinpoint bleeding, but that typically goes away after 5 to 10 minutes. There’s absolutely no required downtime for RF microneedling, so you’re free to go about the rest of your day (or you can take the day off… treat yourself). However, we do recommend you stay away from other skincare treatments and makeup for 24 hours.
What does an INTRAcel treatment feel like?
A lot of people are concerned that an INTRAcel treatment will hurt, but the truth is, most people feel very little discomfort at all. That’s mainly due to the topical cream to help you remain comfortable during the entire process. However, some people may notice a heating sensation or slight pricks.
After your treatment, you may feel like you have a sunburn, and that could last for 24 to 48 hours. If you ever have concerns about pain during your radiofrequency skin treatment, you can always contact one of our team members, and we’ll be happy to address your concerns.
When will I start seeing results?
Good news! You may notice brighter and tighter skin after just one treatment. But to really see the true results of RF microneedling, most people require a series of 3 to 4 treatments. But don’t worry, your specialist will help you determine how many treatments you’ll need. Keep in mind that results do vary based on how quickly your skin heals and regenerates.
To maintain your results, we recommend scheduling maintenance treatments every 12 to 18 months. This will ensure that your skin stays glowing and healthy for years to come.
How to obtain more dramatic results: RF microneedling with other treatments
At AesthetiCare, we often pair our INTRAcel treatments with other procedures to maximize your results. Our most common paired procedures include:
HydraFacial: To drive away dirt and other debris, our HydraFacial uses vortex-fusion technology to give you clear, cleansed skin. This also works great for people who suffer from acne.
Exilis: If you love how RF energy treats your skin, then Exilis could work great for you. This non-invasive treatment combines RF energy with ultrasound to deliver deep thermal heat into your skin. As a result, it tightens skin and helps reduce wrinkles.
BBL treatments: Broadband Light treatments use powerful light energy to blast away skin imperfections that lead to aging skin. This gentle procedure works great with RF microneedling and requires no downtime.
